MGB Hybrid Synthesizer
7 April 2007
Evolving from the desire to provide addendum circuitry for my MG-1, MGB is stand alone capable while providing control voltages for an attached MG-1 (or other analog synth).
The MG-1 embed's circuits controlable by external voltage control. The intention to provide one single VCO, two complex ADSR's, and superior VCA, fell under the sword of my intention that this is the last analog synth i ever build for myself.
As such the desire to apply the best technology for this "final synth", propelled the design into a platform which is in many ways "homage" to the MG-1 while being interfaced to MIDI addressable digital convertors, bit map display, and motorized potentiometers.
There are three distinct, and sometimes loosly coupled components of the MG-B effort;
>The evolving design component, at both the integrated and individual device level of conception. MGB has suffered spec creep and the Block Level Plan has been modulated by speculation, insight, and opportunity.
All that is functioning to date. That being two (2) VCO's, three VCA's (2 for VCO LEVEL, 1 FINAL VCA), Ladder Filter, and MGB Host Processor 4 channel 16 Bit MIDI pitch control.
Schematic, Reference, Text, Illustration and Source Code is maintained in machine readable formats. Web documentation trails the current art by weeks. If one was tempted to replicate any of this technology and email should preface any construction effort as this is a project not a product and, this project is currently In Progress. The following page reflects the current stage of MG-B development. All device capability "claimed" is demonstrable is art.
