Better Metal
As it stands, the Synsonic is not enough to comprise even a modest drum kit, so I'll have to build some of the voices I want, especially since I am not exactly thrilled with the Synsonic Hi-Hat, even with the "improvements" I've made to it. One idea I had for a ride/crash cymbal, as well as a replacement Hi-Hat, was to "clone" those portions of the Roland Boss DR-110 drum machine, which, from the samples I've heard, sounds quite convincing.

Rather than mindlessly replicate the '110 circuitry, it would be nice if I first understood it, so that I might safely eliminate parts that are unneeded for my purposes. I've studied the schematics and posted my analysis of how I think the circuits in question work. Those more knowledgeable than I are welcome to correct any misinterpretations on my part by emailing rocking@@@softhome.net (minus two @s).
